      Nursing Home Negligence Can Happen

Our aging population has created “low and no availability” in nursing homes or long term care facilities. The public is grateful to obtain a bed for the family member and often do not overlook the obvious. Nursing home accidents are common given the fragile nature of the occupants. However, many accidents that occur are disguised under the pretext of the age or vulnerable condition of the person who had the accident.

You, your elderly parent or relative may have experienced an injury, which in fact was due to the faulty inspection and maintenance practices of the nursing home facility.
The elderly or sick are often unable to speak up for themselves and rely upon their relatives to be their voice. Should your family have sustained a fall, were injured by another relative who was not properly supervised, or by a staff member, a review should be made of the resident’s contract to determine if there was a breach of the contract.

Often the contract promises more than the facility delivers in terms of safety, inspection, and monitoring. Ask yourself whether the facility has provided a safe environment and reasonable care, as promised in the contract.  If you or a loved one contracted COVID-19 in a nursing home – there are other circumstances to take into account.

Sustained an injury as a result of improper maintenance practices or faulty supervision?  There may be a legal case to be marshalled Speak to a personal injury lawyer to understand your rights.
