October 16th was World Spine Day. Each year, over 85,000 Canadians experience spinal cord injuries that can leave them paralyzed, unable to walk, and without hope.
As the largest spinal cord rehab hospital in Canada, Toronto Rehab’s Lyndhurst Centre provides exceptional rehabilitation services that help patients regain their lives, often helping them walk and become active again when the odds are against them.

Himelfarb Proszanski has supported Toronto Rehab Foundation to advance the efforts of its Lyndhurst Centre, to ensure that all patients get the exceptional care they need to regain their quality of life after a spinal cord injury. As a proud sponsor of the Lyndhurst Centre’s Patient Amenities Fund, Himelfarb Proszanski is proud to help low-income patients afford the expenses that are necessary for a comfortable, effective, and less stressful recovery.
Those living with a spinal cord injury are often unable to work, making it difficult for them to gather the financial resources they need for a full recovery. Paying out of pocket for basic necessities, unexpected costs, and rehabilitation equipment, only adds to their stress.
The Patient Amenities Fund was created to alleviate many of these financial burdens, reduce stress, and help patients recover more quickly and comfortably. The Fund is frequently sought out by social workers and clinical managers looking to help struggling patients.
This fund helps patients pay for a wide variety of services and equipment that are crucial to an effective recovery. From paying for rehabilitative equipment like wheelchairs and other devices, to covering transportation costs and allowing families to visit more frequently, the Fund assists patients with large and small expenses. It also provides financial assistance for basic necessities like soap, toothpaste, hairbrushes, and other basics so the patient does not have to worry about purchasing these items during their recovery.
It is a huge honor for Himelfarb Proszanski to sponsor the Patient Amenities Fund and be a part of the Toronto Rehab Foundation’s incredible efforts to help spinal cord injury patients beat the odds and regain their lives.
