Toronto Rehab’s Lyndhurst Centre Parapan Am Games

We are proud to sponsor the Lyndhurst Centre’s Parapan Am Games, which will take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the grounds of Toronto Rehab’s Lyndhurst Centre, located at 520 Sutherland Drive in Toronto.

The purpose of this event is to create awareness of the Parapan Am Games and adapted leisure resources within the community. This event will also increase knowledge about adapted sport community resources, while allowing people to learn a variety of new adapted sports skills for future community participation.

Toronto Rehab’s Lyndhurst Centre will host close to 300 patients, staff, families and friends for this special event. Staff and patients will compete on teams in a variety of adapted sports, such as hand-cycling, wheelchair basketball, badminton, table tennis and boccia.

David Himelfarb explains how the patient amenity fund helps patients get access to money for items they need.

The event will also serve as the backdrop to announce the gift of $150,000 by Himelfarb Proszanski – Personal Injury Lawyers to create the Patient Amenities Fund at Lyndhurst Centre. The Fund provides special assistance to low-income patients for the purchase of essential items, and serves to support their recovery and successful re-integration into the community. This population is among the most high-risk of all patients, with very little means to afford important aspects of recovery, such as the purchase of equipment, daily sundry items, transportation, and more. This fund will afford social workers and clinicians an important go-to resource to aid their patients, thereby helping them focus on their health and recovery.
